The thing that popped out at me was the footprints either leading out to the sea or coming in from the sea. There are no people in this and the only hint we have that people exist in this surreal world are the footprints. It made me wonder where that person is, maybe why they have gone off to sea after playing on the piano and if they will ever come back to land.
What a fascinating title and idea. I'm a music major and I have to say, I just LOVE this. I love that the tree is growing out of (or into!) the piano and there are footprints leading away from (or to!) the piano, and all the ambiguities besides. How amazing.
It is great to hear that I can please musicians with my painting. I only play piano for fun.
You can think both ways, in / out and from / to. The tree might be growing out of the piano if you are inspired during the break, and the tree also can be growing into the piano if you take a real long break. The footprints also can be leading away from or to the beach. It depends on where you think you can have the break. Of course, I have certain directions for both issues, but I think it all depends on the viewers' minds.
Thanks, buddy.
Where do I get ideas...? hmm... I actually never thought about it.
I think it is like this. If I look at such things, for example like a piano, I usually start combine things around the object in my head. It is kind of difficult to explain why and how I am inspired by them. Because although I have passed the tree thousands times before, I never thought that I would paint it. I when I see ordinary stuff, "sometimes" it looks different to me.
Keyboard instruments (piano, organ, harmonium) always fascinate me. As I am now working on a keyboard related piece, I can appreciate this even more. I really like the fact that you don't feel the need to explain every detail, but leave it to the imagination of the viewer.
A very rich and beautiful piece, evocative of half forgotten melodies, and dreams of concertos faintly heard over the song of the waves.

A brand new monthly article which showcases some of deviantART's finest equine artists, as well as recognizing the lesser-known but equally talented ones. Interviews, helpful tutorials and features can all be found here too! I hope you enjoy it.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
